Mátra Power Plant – Foundation stone for a new plant

The foundation stone has been laid for the new gas turbine power plant unit (CCGT) at the Mátra Power Plant, announced the MVM Group. This new facility is a long-term solution and serves as a bridge between fossil fuels and renewable energy.

The Visonta site is set to provide over 520 megawatts (MW) of new, flexibly controllable capacity by 2028. The site will play an essential role in ensuring national energy security. Its specific carbon dioxide emissions amount to only a quarter of those from lignite-based electricity generation.

The consortium responsible for the construction and long-term maintenance of the gas turbine was selected through an international public procurement procedure. It includes Status KPRIA Zrt., a subsidiary of the Mészáros Group, and WEST HUNGÁRIA BAU Kft., both fully Hungarian-owned companies. The third member is Elsewedy Power System Projects, part of Elsewedy Electric, one of Egypt’s leading industrial and energy companies.
