As part of its international restructuring, thyssenkrupp is shifting several functions away from its development center in Budapest, while simultaneously strengthening it as a global hub. Out of approximately 1,300 positions in Budapest, 80 will be cut. Due to weak demand in the global automotive market, and new hires have been suspended.
However, nearly 100 new positions are expected to be created later in the Global Business Support segment. The strategic role of the Budapest site is being acknowledged, particularly in regard to its E/E (electrical and electronic) Competence Center and accredited EMC laboratory.
The group’s manufacturing sites in Jászfényszaru, Debrecen, and Győr, employing nearly 2,000 people in total, remain completely unaffected by the changes.
