Parliament has approved the amendment to the law initiated by the Hungarian Tourist Agency (MTÜ). Thereafter, with a six-month delay, from 1 January, 2023 catering establishments and tourist attractions are obliged to report data to the National Tourism Data Supply Center (NTDSC).
Hungary is the first country in Europe to introduce data-driven management in the tourism sector. After connecting more than 45,000 accommodation sites, catering establishments and attractions will also be required to join the NTDSC. This represents another milestone in the digitization of the entire tourism sector.
As of November, more than 10,000 tourist attractions and catering establishments have registered in the system. The new members also include museums, palaces and castles, beaches and spas, adventure and amusement parks, music and dance events and other tourist attractions where tickets are sold. All types of catering establishments are subject to registration, but only those using online checkouts are covered.
