Preparations for the production of the next generation of electric motors, the MEBeco (Modularer E-Antriebs-Baukasten, modular electric drive concept) have started in Győr at Audi Hungaria Zrt.
The virtual planning of the production lines is underway and the first production equipment for the future production of the transmission components have already arrived at Audi Hungaria. The MEBeco project is also supported by the Hungarian government, as it contributes to the preservation of 260 jobs and further strengthens the competitiveness of the Hungarian automotive industry during the transition to electric mobility.
MEBeco drives will be used in the Volkswagen Group’s small electric cars in the future. A new production area is being set up specifically for this purpose. In addition, the new e-motor family will be manufactured with greater vertical integration, which also requires new skills. The plate pack for the MEBeco drive will be mass-produced at the company for the first time and the rotor and power electronics will also be produced at Audi Hungaria in the future.
