Stellantis Group – Electric drive modules from Szentgotthárd

The Opel plant in Szentgotthárd will also produce electric drive modules in the future. The French Stellantis Group, one of the largest automotive groups in the world, is locating a key element of its electromobility strategy in Hungary.

The investment of HUF 45 billion (around EUR 116 million) will secure the future of the Opel plant in Szentgotthárd. The production of electric drive modules can now start in parallel with conventional drives. The corresponding research, development and testing activities will also be relocated to this site.

With the new investment, Stellantis Group with 16 brands, including Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Citroen, Opel and Peugeot, will further strengthen Hungary’s role in the transition to electric cars. The development will create 110 new jobs. The government is providing Stellantis with a non-repayable grant of HUF 10 billion (EUR 25.7 million).
