Since 20 January, the voice and data traffic of Telekom customers on the 2G network has been gradually taken over by the radio network of Yettel Magyarország. The transition is scheduled to be completed by 1 April 2026.
The aim of the agreement between Magyar Telekom and Yettel Magyarország is to rationalize the use of available frequencies and, through cooperation, also expand their 4G and 5G capacities. Outdoor 5G coverage is to be increased to 99% over the course of the year.
Yettel’s network is based on high-performance 4G and ultra-fast 5G technologies. According to the agreement, the capacity and quality of the Yettel network enable the simultaneous servicing of its own customers as well as Telekom’s 2G customers. The cooperation is considered a pioneering solution in Europe.
