Waberer’s Nyrt., Hungary’s leading freight company, is acquiring a 70% stake in the cargo division of GYSEV Zrt. In addition to purchasing a strategic majority share, Waberer’s will carry out a capital increase of nearly HUF 2 billion (EUR 4.9 million) in GYSEV Cargo Zrt. The funds will be used to modernize the private railway’s logistics infrastructure.
The transaction is expected to be completed by mid-2025. The previous sole owner, GYSEV Zrt., will retain a 30% minority stake in the rail cargo company. As Hungary’s second-largest rail freight operator, GYSEV Cargo is also active in Austria through Raaberbahn Cargo GmbH.
The company operates a container terminal in Sopron and is currently developing an intermodal terminal in the Debrecen-Macs industrial park.
