The Hungarian companies of Vodafone and Bosch have established a joint project team for 5G automotive testing in Budapest.
The project, which will start in October, will test the 5G network in the area of driver assistance systems and vehicle development, which Vodafone will provide to Bosch. The experiment at the Bosch Innovation Center will run for eight months and will test the possibilities on different road surfaces and in different situations.
The 5G telecommunications network can open up new horizons in the automotive industry and support the rapid exchange of information between vehicles and self-driving cars. Vodafone was the first to launch 5G commercially in Hungary and has already deployed it in a number of automotive test projects.
The Bosch Automotive Technology Development Center was inaugurated a year ago after almost four years of construction. The 90,000 square meters centre -a HUF 70 billion (EUR 181.3 million) investment – will play a key role in the development of Bosch’s electric mobility and automated driving solutions.
