After the exit in 2016, Uber plans to return to Budapest in partnership with the Főtaxi Group.
According to the US company’s statement, this move will not only provide significantly more options for residents and tourists in the capital, but will also expand the transport network. The dispatching license application was submitted at the end of February by F Mobilitás Kft, a subsidiary of Főtaxi.
Budapest will thus be the first major European city to enter into such a cooperation with Uber. The Uber app was opened almost 100,000 times in Budapest in 2023, although the service is not even available in the capital.
The American company had to leave the capital in 2016 after the government made changes to cab regulations that it was unable to comply with.
Uber now guarantees compliance with all Hungarian regulations, signaling its commitment to operate within the legal framework.
