Tungsram – Immediate assistance needed

The lighting company Tungsram is facing unsolvable challenges as a result of the pandemic, global supply difficulties and the war in Ukraine.

As a result, Tungsram needs immediate help, either in the form of government or local government contracts for energy efficiency programs, or non-repayable government support or a capital injection. The company is now preparing for a partial shutdown in April to adjust capacity to customer demand and to sell existing stock.

In the second half of last year, the geopolitical situation led to global commodity inflation and an escalation in energy prices. This was followed by unprecedented volatility in the energy markets due to the Ukraine war, which made the production of conventional products impossible and blocked the realization of Russian projects.

Tungsram employs around 3,000 people, has five production sites in Germany and works with 1,600 suppliers and other partners.
