Tender for EV charging infrastructure

Thanks to a new tender worth HUF 28 billion (EUR 70 million) from the EU’s reconstruction fund, new public EV charging stations can be installed at more than 100 locations outside Budapest.

The program, which is due to start in August, also promotes the installation of modern charging stations equipped with solar panels and energy storage systems, according to the Ministry of Energy. Companies that have an operator license for electric charging stations can apply for the tender. A minimum of HUF 100 million (EUR 250 thousand) and a maximum of HUF 6 billion (EUR 15 million) can be applied for per company.

Large companies can receive 35%, medium-sized companies 55% and small companies 65% of the eligible costs. All charging points that are built or expanded with subsidies must be able to enable smart charging and electronic payment processes. The contracts must be concluded by the end of April 2025 at the latest. The deadline for completion of the projects is fall 2027.
