Otthon Start Program – New residential developments

Construction of a further 5,000 housing units meeting the criteria of the Otthon Start Program could begin across Hungary within a few months. According to a newly published government decree, 11 additional residential projects have been classified as either national economic priorities or investments in so-called “rust belt” areas.

Of the newly announced projects, eight are located in Budapest, while the remaining three are in Debrecen, Pécs and Budaörs.

In recent months, the government has received over 40,000 applications from property developers seeking approval under the Otthon Start guidelines. Previously, fast-track procedures had already been launched for seven projects comprising a total of 6,200 housing units, three in Budapest and four in rural areas.

With the latest government resolution, the state has now approved support for more than 11,000 new homes across 18 developments.
