The MOL Group and its partner O&GD have discovered a new oil deposit near Galgahévíz. Located halfway between Gödöllő and Hatvan, the site will supply additional crude oil to MOL Group’s Danube Refinery in Százhalombatta.
The Galgahévíz-4 well enables the extraction of around 1,000 barrels per day from a depth of approximately 2,400 meters. The new production site contributes about 4% to MOL’s domestic crude oil output and reducing the country’s dependence on imports.
Since the end of 2022, the partnership with O&GD has already resulted in three wells near Vecsés. More recently, MOL also made a successful discovery in Transdanubia, near Somogysámson.
Currently, nearly 40% of MOL’s total oil production comes from domestic sources.
