As part of the Jedlik Ányos Energy Programme, HUF 40 billion (EUR 102.5 million) in funding will be available for the production of biogas and biomethane, the Ministry of Energy announced. Applications can be submitted from 28 October.
The support is aimed at the construction and expansion of biogas and biomethane production capacities by domestic companies. Out of the total budget, HUF 18 billion (EUR 46.1 million) is allocated specifically for the establishment and modernization of small-scale plants, primarily to promote self-generated green energy.
Currently, Hungary produces around 200 million cubic meters of biogas annually. This amount is expected to triple by 2030. In terms of biomethane production, projections indicate a volume of 184 million cubic meters by the early 2030s.
