Masterplast – Resumption of glass wool production

Glass wool production is resuming in Hungary. The first test products have been completed at the thermal insulation material plant in Szerencs, which was established through a strategic partnership between the Masterplast Group and Polish company Selena FM. Commercial production is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2025. The factory is operated by their joint venture, Pimco Kft., with each party holding a 50% stake.

The investment amounts to more than EUR 47.5 million. It has been supported by the Hungarian state with a non-refundable grant of HUF 5.6 billion (EUR 14 million). The plant has an annual capacity of 19,000 tons and will employ more than 100 people.

The last glass wool factory in Hungary, located in Salgótarján, closed in March 2009.
