Magyar Telekom: Help by keeping in touch

Magyar Telekom (MT) has monitored its entire network infrastructure along the Ukrainian border over the last few days, and replaced batteries where necessary to ensure operation in the event of a power outage and expanded its capacity (e.g. a new mobile station) to to cope with the extra demand. It has also strengthened its mobile network at border crossings and prepared for increased traffic. The company also set up three free WiFi points for refugees in Fehérgyarmat and in Mándok.

Magyar Telekom and T-Systems are working together with state railways (MÁV) to improve the free WiFi service at Budapest’s West and East Railway Stations so that refugees, volunteers and aid organizations working there can communicate more easily.

From February 1, 2022 until further notice, Magyar Telekom will credit its customers with unlimited roaming charges on its partner networks in Ukraine, as well as charges for international calls and SMS messages from Hungary to mobile and fixed networks in Ukraine.

Employees of Magyar Telekom donated their entry fee for the Telekom Vivicittá running race, to be held on March 26th and 27th of this year, to the Hungarian Interchurch Aid to support refugees from Ukraine. Magyar Telekom will add HUF 5 million (EUR 12,000) to the amount of the employee donation.
