Linamar – First PPA contract

The machine manufacturer Linamar Zrt. has signed the first so-called PPA contract (Power Purchase Agreement) in Hungary. The aim is to secure the company’s energy needs in the long term. The company employs around 3,000 people in Orosháza in the south-east of the country.

The PPA contract was negotiated with Nap Nyrt., the power trader Audax Hungary and the financing company Magyar Bankholding Zrt. for a period of ten years. Linamar will receive the electricity generated from renewable energy sources for this period at agreed costs. This will cover 15-20% of Linamar’s energy needs.

Nap Nyrt. will offer Linamar electricity from its solar park in Alsónémedi, which has a built-in capacity of 8 MW. The solar parks of Nap Nyrt. from Söjtör via Mohács to Tiszafüred have a total capacity of 33.5 MW. The company, which has so far been endowed with HUF 8 billion (EUR 21 million), is planning a capital increase of HUF 10-15 billion (EUR 26-39 million) this year.
