Pharmaceutical company Egis Zrt. is expanding its production capacity at its Körmend site with an investment of HUF 14.5 billion (EUR 36 million). The government is supporting the development with HUF 3.5 billion (EUR 8.7 million).
Egis Zrt. currently employs around 3,800 people in Hungary and will surpass the 4,000-employee threshold.
Last year, Egis Zrt. spent HUF 20 billion (EUR 49.7 million) on R&D and produces more than 650 different medications domestically.
Hungary is currently among the top 20 pharmaceutical exporters worldwide. Over the past ten years, nearly three dozen major projects in the sector have been launched with HUF 36 billion (EUR 89.5 million) in state funding, generating a total of HUF 240 billion (EUR 597 million) in investments and creating several thousand jobs.
Egis Zrt. is a member of the French Servier Group and was able to increase its revenue in the most recent financial year (ending September 2024) from HUF 245.9 billion (EUR 611.6 million) to HUF 269.5 billion (EUR 670.3 million), while profits rose from HUF 2.8 billion (EUR 6.9 million) to HUF 3.4 billion (EUR 8.4 million).
