Agri-Corn Kft., owned by Civita Group Zrt., built a new plant in Monostorpályi (Hajdú-Bihar County). The manufacturer of gluten-free pasta and edible plates and cups invested HUF 2.5 billion (EUR 6.41 million) and received EU and government support of HUF 1 billion (EUR 2.5 million) for the development.
The company is one of the largest corn processing companies in Europe, processing 40,000 tons of GMO-free corn annually and producing 20,000 tons of finished products. Last year, sales were HUF 5 billion (EUR 12.8 million) and profits were HUF 800 million (EUR 2 million). 50% of the products are exported. The current investment will triple the annual pasta production capacity and increase it to 150 tons for corn oil. The company’s corn products, corn oil and pasta, are already exported to eleven European countries.
The new biodegradable edible cups and plates could replace 500 tons of plastic annually.
