BME, V-Híd, Plasser & Theurer – Cooperation agreement

Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), V-Híd and Plasser & Theurer combine their expertise for sustainable and efficient railroad lines. Hungary’s leading educational institution for civil engineers, the largest Hungarian railroad construction group and Europe’s largest railroad engineering company have signed a cooperation agreement.

The aim is to map and optimize railroad lines and their surroundings by pooling knowledge, modern technology and resources. This strategic cooperation is intended to usher in a new era of railroad infrastructure. It also aims to focus on promoting innovation, sustainability, increasing efficiency and digitalization.

As part of the cooperation, the partners will initiate joint research projects. The focus will be on assessing the condition of railroad lines and automating digital data processing. A core objective is the use of geotechnical data to optimize track construction processes in order to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

The V-Híd Group is a major player in Hungarian infrastructure construction. With over 1,100 employees, the company specializes in the reconstruction of railroad lines, but is also able to implement complex infrastructure investments. In recent years, V-Híd has built numerous roads, bridges, parking lots, railroad stations and loading terminals.
