Becton Dickinson, a global leader in medical technology, has laid the foundation stone for a new plant in Környe (Komárom-Esztergom County). The company is investing around HUF 17 billion (approx. EUR 45 million) at the site in order to add an on-site sterilization facility alongside its existing operation manufacturing syringes and needles.
The government is granting state subsidies of HUF 3 billion forints (EUR 7.9 million) for the investment, as the follow-up project increases opportunities for domestic companies, whose share among suppliers has already reached one third.
Production of the current 700 million syringes, needles, and other medical products is expected to double in the medium term.
