The Continental rubber plant in Makó has a new owner. Regent L.P., the U.S. holding company, has acquired the Original Equipment Solutions (OESL) division of the German group Continental, which includes the plant in the city. This move is expected to stabilize production and safeguard jobs.
The change affects both the plant in Makó and the site in Vác. The Makó facility employs 1,100 people.
As early as August 2025, Continental had announced the sale of its OESL business unit, which belongs to the ContiTech division, to the U.S. industrial holding Regent. The transaction covers hoses and line systems (ContiTech), but not the company’s core tire production.
The deal was recently approved by all relevant authorities. OESL, with 14,000 employees worldwide and revenues of EUR 1.7 billion in 2025, will continue to operate as an independent company under Regent’s long-term ownership.
