Wienerberger – Fully automated plant for concrete roof tiles

The Austrian company Wienerberger is building a fully automated plant for concrete roof tiles in Hejőpapi (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County) with an investment volume of HUF 12 billion (approx. EUR 30 million). The site is located on the M3 highway in the industrial triangle of Miskolc, Nyíregyháza and Debrecen. It is the brick manufacturer’s first plant of its kind in Hungary. Production is scheduled to start in the fall of 2025.

A factory hall of 7,300 square meters is being built on 7 hectares. Industry 4.0 standards will be used in both production and concrete mixing. Only around 30 employees will be needed to monitor the production processes for the annual capacity of 30 million roof tiles.

Around 70% of production is to be exported, primarily to Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia and Romania.

Wienerberger currently employs around 800 people in Hungary. With more than 20,000 employees, the traditional Austrian company, which is more than 200 years old, recently achieved a global turnover of EUR 4.2 billion.
