Defence industry – Production of Gidrán combat vehicles in Hungary

A Memorandum of Understanding on the production of combat vehicles in Hungary was recently signed at the Ministry of Defence. The document on the new joint venture “Gidrán” was signed by the Turkish defence company Nurol Makina, Nurol Makina Hungary Kft., N7 Holding Zrt. and Rába Autóipari Holding Nyrt.

The aim of the joint venture is for Nurol Makina to produce Gidrán armoured combat vehicles for the Hungarian Armed Forces in Hungary. N7 Holding Zrt. will not only perform manufacturing and assembly tasks, but will also carry out R&D&I in Hungary.

The assembly of the Gidrán combat vehicle will take place in Hungary, as the additional radar and weapon systems will be integrated into the basic vehicle manufactured by Nurol Makina in Kaposvár. This activity will remain in Kaposvár. However, the vehicle itself will now be manufactured by Rába in Győr. The agreement will create at least 200 new jobs and will also involve a wide network of suppliers.
