FirstFarms Hungary Kft. – New pig farms

The Danish-owned FirstFarms Hungary Kft. inaugurated new pig farms with an investment of HUF 8 billion (EUR 21.3 million). The state supported the development with HUF 2.5 billion (EUR 6.6 million).

The fattening farms were built in Telekgerendás and Pusztaföldvár (Békés County). The development included the construction of a rearing station for 2,000 sows in Telekgerendás and a piglet rearing facility in Pusztaföldvár, which will enable the breeding of 4,500 sows.

The buildings are powered by solar panels and the optimum temperature is ensured by recovering heat from manure, a technology that is unique in Hungary.

FirstFarms has been listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange since December 2006. The company has almost 400 employees and subsidiaries in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania and Hungary. Its core business is grain, dairy and meat production.
