The Ministry of Economy is setting up standards for logistics parks to increase their competitiveness.
The number of companies operating in the logistics sector is estimated at nearly 2,500. With more than 280,000 employees, the sector generates 5 percent of GDP. The government aims to double this ratio by 2030. The Covid pandemic, war and sanctions have affected value chains, posing enormous challenges for the sector.
In order to better coordinate investments and realise them more efficiently, standards are now to be developed. Logistics parks will be classified into three categories, as intermodal logistics park, regional logistics park and local logistics park. Although the classification does not bring any immediate financial advantages, it does make it easier to apply for funding. All service providers with an area of at least 3 ha and with a covered warehouse space of 3,000 square meters, can obtain the title of logistics park by the end of 2024.
