Infineon – manufacturer of semiconductors – has inaugurated its new plant in Cegléd. The HUF 31.9 billion (EUR 76.4 million) investment will create 275 jobs. The government funds the investment with HUF 6.4 billion (EUR 15.3 million). The products of Infineon Technologies Cegléd Kft. are almost exclusively exported.
Infineon Technologies settled in Hungary 28 years ago and now is considered the market leader in the development and manufacture of automotive semiconductors. The modules produced in Hungary with a voltage of up to 3,500 volts are used in industrial automation and power technology.
Infineon Hungary achieved a profit of around HUF 880 million (EUR 2.1 million) on sales of HUF 18.2 billion (EUR 43.6 million) last year. With the expansion of the plant, the company employs almost 1,600 people in Hungary.
