The Chinese automotive manufacturer NIO announced to build a battery swap station plant. The plant in Biatorbágy is the company’s first plant in Europe and is being built with an investment of around HUF 5.5 billion (EUR 13.75 million).
The government funds the investment with HUF 1.7 billion (EUR 4.25 million), which will create several hundred jobs. The production hall could be expanded later to include a research and development, as well as training activities. NIO intends to produce 240 container-sized automatic battery swap stations in Biatorbágy every year. By 2025, 4,000 of the stations are expected to operate worldwide.
