MVM builds solar power plants

MVM Zöld Generáció Kft. is building 28 solar power plants across the country with an investment of almost HUF 7 billion (EUR 18 million). The project receives over HUF 2 billion (EUR 5 million) as part of the EU’s Environmental and Energy Efficiency Operative Program.

The project was started in Oroszlány as 15 of the 0.5 megawatt (MW) units will be installed here on wasteland. Further solar power plants are being built in Berettyóújfalu, Dánszentmiklós, Dorog, Kunszállás, Nyírcsaholy, Pécs, Pusztaföldvár, Sükösd and Vésztő.

These solar power plants will generate 69,000 GJ of electricity per year and supply more than 8,000 private households. At the same time, Hungary’s carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced by 19,000 tons a year. The plants are expected to start operation next year and have a planned service life of 25 years.
