Ferenc Liszt International Airport has laid the foundation stone for Terminal 3, which is designed to accommodate an additional 10 million passengers. The investment volume amounts to EUR 1 billion. By 2030, Budapest Airport aims to attract 25 million passengers annually.
Following the return of Budapest Airport to state ownership, the next major step is the expansion of infrastructure. The new terminal is intended to establish the Hungarian capital as a central hub in Central and Eastern Europe.
In addition, access to the airport from the capital will be fundamentally improved. For HUF 200 billion (EUR 527 million), the expressway between the city center and the airport will be widened to three lanes in each direction over a distance of 12 km. By 2035, a direct railway connection is also planned to efficiently link the airport to the national and international rail network.
Since 2024, Ferenc Liszt International Airport has been 80% state-owned again, while 20% is held by Vinci Airports. The French company is a global leader in operating more than 70 airports in 14 countries.
