Pearl Enterprises, based in Debrecen, will roll out 100 new smart pedestrian crossings this year, bringing the total number of such installations in Hungary to 400. These innovative crosswalks aim to enhance safety for both pedestrians and drivers.
Following success on the domestic market, Pearl Enterprises Kft. is now expanding into neighboring countries. Smart crossings were first introduced abroad in Romania last year. The company is now actively seeking distribution partners in Germany, Slovakia, and Austria.
The smart zebra crossings are equipped with sensors on both sides of the intersection and feature high-visibility LED prisms embedded in the pavement.
While local authorities remain the company’s primary partners, demand is growing among private companies as well.
Pearl Enterprises invests around 5% of its annual revenue in product development. The smart pedestrian crossing system was entirely self-financed, without relying on external funding. The company’s core business remains the installation and operation of industrial solar power systems, which account for the majority of its revenue.
