Egger Group – First collection point for wood waste

The Austrian Egger Group has opened its first wood waste collection point in Hungary on a site of over 5 hectares in Budapest’s 17th district. The facility accepts untreated wood waste from manufacturers, logistics providers, construction and demolition companies, as well as private households.

This newly opened domestic recycling collection point is the Austrian company’s 24th facility in Europe. In cooperation with MOHU Zrt., untreated wood waste can be dropped off at the site free of charge. The facility has an annual capacity of 90,000 tons of wood and 10,000 tons of paper and plastic waste.

Egger is a manufacturer of products for furniture and interior design, flooring, and building materials. A significant portion of the wood used by the company is delivered as waste wood to the facility, processed there, and then transported to one of Egger’s production plants. The material is primarily used at the group’s locations in Hungary, Austria, and Romania to manufacture furniture panels.

This family-owned company employs more than 11,000 people and operates 22 factories in eleven countries worldwide. In the 2023/24 fiscal year, it generated group revenue of EUR 4.13 billion (-7%). EBITDA amounted to EUR 493.6 million (-18%), while production rose from 9.3 million cubic meters the previous year to 10.4 million cubic meters.
