A contract has been signed for the development of the new gas and steam turbine block at the Mátra Power Plant, marking the beginning of detailed planning for the large-scale power plant with innovative technologies and the preparation of construction work in Visonta.
The contract was signed by representatives of MVM Mátra Energia Zrt., a member of the MVM Group. On behalf of the three-member consortium, which previously won the tender for the construction of the new power plant and long-term maintenance of the gas turbine, the document was confirmed by the leaders of: Status KPRIA Zrt., a company of the Mészáros Group, West Hungária Bau Kft., a 100% Hungarian-owned company of the WHB Group, and Elsewedy Power System Projects, part of Elsewedy Electric, one of Egypt’s leading industrial and energy companies.
The Hungarian government supports the development of the energy sector and is committed to green and sustainable solutions. It has now been around 15 years since the last base-load power plant was commissioned in Hungary.
