ZalaZONE – Hungarian-Chinese R&D Center

A Hungarian-Chinese center for research, development, testing, and certification of intelligent new-energy vehicles and their battery storage systems is set to be established in Zalaegerszeg, according to the operator of the ZalaZONE test track, following the signing of a memorandum of understanding.

The creation of the center, which aims to serve markets in America, Asia, and Europe, involves key roles played by the China-U.S. Green Fund, Zhongzhi Zhitong Testing Technology Co., Ltd., and Autóipari Próbapálya Zala Kft. Through a joint investment around the ZalaZONE area, an ecosystem focused on alternative energy will be developed. The center will not only accelerate technological innovation in the automotive and energy industries, but also bring new jobs, supplier opportunities, and international investments to Hungary.

The ZalaZONE test track, designed for testing electric and autonomous vehicles, was built on a 265-hectare site.
