Thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology – Engineering office in Szeged

Thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology Hungary Kft. opened a new engineering office in Szeged to develop electromechanical steering systems. The company’s electronic development centers in Budapest and Veszprém already employ 1,200 engineers, who will be joined by the employees of the new engineering office.

Thyssenkrupp is expanding its R&D activities in Germany and up to 65 automotive engineers can look forward to be hired in the near future at several locations. The investment amounts to more than HUF 1.8 billion (EUR 4.4 million). The government is supporting the investment with HUF 460 million (EUR 1.1 million).

Since 2015, thyssenkrupp has invested around HUF 150 billion (EUR 365 million) in Hungary with financial support from the government, making it one of the key players in the automotive industry, which forms the backbone of the Hungarian economy. The company is among the 100 largest employers and 50 largest exporters in Hungary.

Thyssenkrupp Automotive Technology, part of the heavy industry and mechanical engineering group thyssenkrupp, is one of the world’s leading automotive suppliers. The company has been in Hungary since 1999 and currently employs around 2,700 people. The group’s electronic and software development competence center in Budapest is primarily concerned with the development of electric steering systems suitable for a wide range of driving-assistance or autonomous systems. The company’s gear assembly plant has been in operation in Győr since 2013. In Jászfényszaru, the company has been manufacturing steering servos and engine components since 2018, and the springs and stabilizers plant in Debrecen was also opened this year. The office in Veszprém, which is part of the Competence Center in Budapest, opened in 2020.
