Hungary has opened a new chain of stores, the German chain TEDi in Budapest, in the 11th district, Savoya Park. It already has stores in Pápa and Székesfehérvár in Hungary. The next branch opening is scheduled for mid-May at the Lőrinc Center in the 18th district. With a wide range of non-food products – home furnishings, toys, office supplies, clothing and cosmetics – TEDi is primarily a competitor of Pepco and KiK.
The chain is little known in Hungary. It was founded in 2004 and already has 2,600 branches in 11 countries and has about 4,000 employees. It is expanding mainly in Eastern and Central Europe, e.g. Poland, Slovenia, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Romania, Croatia and Austria.
