Wood processing company Swiss Krono has announced an investment of HUF 20 billion (approx. EUR 52.5 million) to expand its production capacity in Vásárosnamény, in eastern Hungary. The Hungarian government is supporting the project with HUF 3 billion (EUR 7.8 million) in state aid. As a result, the number of employees at the site is expected to rise to 200.
The Vásárosnamény facility is among the most advanced within the company’s global network. Operating in nine countries worldwide, Swiss Krono’s latest investment aligns closely with Hungary’s national strategy for the wood industry, which emphasizes sustainable raw material use, energy efficiency, and high-value-added processing.
