Suzuki is making a further investment of HUF 9.3 billion (EUR 24.5 million) in Esztergom. As part of the investment, the Japanese company is expanding its production capacities and taking a major step towards the carbon neutral conversion of the Esztergom plant.
Suzuki is also making significant technological improvements in the areas of digitalisation and automation. The development will expand the capacity of the bumper, painting and welding plants, acquire high-tech machinery and build a solar power plant. In addition, the company’s workforce in Esztergom is to increase to 3,000 employees. The government is suppporting the investment with HUF 1.9 billion (EUR 5 million) for the investment.
Suzuki is traditionally the market leader in Hungary, with a share of 12.5% last year. The plant in Esztergom is the Japanese company’s third-largest production site.
