Robert Bosch Automotive Steering Kft. – New logistics centre in Maklár

The construction of a new logistics center will conclude a multi-year development series worth around HUF 52 billion (EUR 140.5 million) at the Bosch plant in Maklár.

The new building, which will consolidate and improve the efficiency of the logistics services currently leased, was originally scheduled to be handed over this year, but due to unfavourable market conditions and increased costs of the project, construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.

The 70,000 square meters Bosch plant in Maklár is not only a key player in the production of the new generation electric steering gears, but also in the development of steering columns and axles. Around 6.5 million products and parts are manufactured each year, which means that on average a product rolls off the production line every three seconds.

Robert Bosch Automotive Steering Kft. produces steering systems for more than 50 vehicle manufacturers at two sites in Maklár and Eger, including premium and electric car and truck brands. In addition, 40 engineers work with the world’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers to develop steering shafts and columns for buses and trucks. The team is also responsible for prototype production.

Robert Bosch Automotive Steering Kft. currently employs around 1,700 people. In 2022, the company achieved a turnover of HUF 295 billion (EUR 797 million), an increase of 37% compared to the previous year. The company spent HUF 8.6 billion (EUR 23.2 million) on R&D (+10% more than in 2021).
