PolSolar Kft. – Hungary’s largest solar park in Mezőcsát

PolSolar Kft. built the largest contiguous solar park in Hungary in Mezőcsát with five of its subsidiaries. More than 466,000 solar panels, 80 medium voltage transformer stations and 1,000 km of cables were installed on a 440-hectare site. The solar park is operated by Extor Energy, and the plant was planned by Alteo Energiaszolgáltató Nyrt.

The investment is worth more than HUF 90 billion (EUR 240.6 million). The expected payback period of the investment is 15 years. The Mezőcsát solar park can generate a total of 372 GWh energy anually. The plant could reduce the country’s carbon dioxide emissions by up to 130 000 tonnes annually.

Solar capacities significantly increased

The year 2022 proved to be a record year for the penetration of solar energy in Hungary. Last year’s 1,100 MW of solar capacity is more than in any previous year and more than the total capacity installed before 2019. The combined installed capacity of industrial and residential solar plants is almost 5,000 MW.

In the first five months of this year, the total capacity of solar installations increased by more than 840 megawatts. At the beginning of the summer, the total installed capacity of solar power plants above 50 kilowatts (kW) exceeded 3,000 MW, the Ministry of Energy informed.
