One of the market leaders in rail logistics segment loses its independence: Petrolsped becomes a member of the Waberer’s Group. Waberer’s acquired 51% stake in Petrolsped Kft.
Petrolsped provides railway transport services, partly with its own railway vehicles, mainly in Hungary and Romania. With its services it was able to exceed a revenue of more than HUF 21 billion (EUR 53.8 million) last year.
Estimated at a market value of HUF 35 billion (EUR 89.7 million), Waberer’s group wants to open up a new business segment in the transport of agricultural products and construction materials. Diversifying the service portfolio is in line with the company’s new strategic direction. In doing so, Waberer’s has its sights set on the EU’s goals of increasingly shifting the long-distance transport tasks from road to railway.
