In 2024, the gross revenue of the 15 largest e-commerce retailers with a local presence in Hungary amounted to HUF 463.1 billion (approx. EUR 1.15 billion), marking a 12.5% increase compared to 2023.
This means the top companies outpaced the overall domestic e-commerce market growth, which stood at 9.5%. These findings come from the latest “E-Toplist” by PwC Hungary, prepared in partnership with Mastercard Hungary.
The 15 leading companies hold a 29% market share in Hungary. The number of orders they processed rose by 34%, reaching 12.1 million.
Alza.hu took the lead from last year’s winner, eMAG. They are followed by the online supermarket kifli.hu, electronics retailer MediaMarkt, home furnishing chain IKEA, and supermarket chain Tesco. In the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) category, kifli.hu leads, followed by Tesco and drugstore chain Rossmann.
The study evaluates only retailers with local operations. However, Chinese online giant Temu recorded around 9 million orders in Hungary in 2024—equivalent to the entire order volume of the top 10 ranked retailers—highlighting the increasing international competitive pressure.
The number of Hungarian e-commerce companies with revenues exceeding HUF 5 billion rose by four, bringing the total to 17. Their combined revenue reached HUF 211 billion, with 5.6 million orders. Euronics, Aqua, and iPon lead this group.
