MOL Nyrt. – Hydrogen plant in Százhalombatta

The largest plant for green hydrogen production in Central Eastern Europe was handed over in Százhalombatta. MOL Nyrt. invested EUR 22 million in the plant with a capacity of 10 MW, which can produce 1,600 tonnes of pure green hydrogen per year.

With the implementation of this technology, Mol is opening a new chapter in the hydrogen economy. MOL plans to install similar plants for green hydrogen production in all three of the Group’s refineries, including Rijeka and Bratislava.

The MOL plant utilises electrolysis technology from the US company Plug Power to produce green hydrogen using electricity from renewable sources. The plant promises to reduce pollutant emissions at the Danube refinery by 25,000 tonnes per year.
