The MOL Group has entered into a partnership with Lummus Technology in the field of chemical recycling of plastics. As part of the cooperation with the global provider of process technologies and value-driven energy solutions, MOL Nyrt. has started planning the first plastics recycling plant.
At the MOL Petrochemicals site in Tiszaújváros, 40,000 tons of mixed waste plastic will be recycled annually. The current project is part of a partnership agreed in 2023 between Lummus and MOL to introduce and integrate chemical recycling of plastics at MOL’s plants in Hungary and Slovakia.
MOL Group is committed to the circular economy and has therefore also invested in the recycling of plastic waste in Central Europe. The mineral oil company offers a wide range of environmentally friendly composite materials for various industries, including the automotive, construction and packaging sectors. Lummus’ pyrolysis technology enables the conversion of plastic waste into high-quality chemicals.
