The integrated oil and gas company, MOL builds one of the largest-capacity green hydrogen plants in Százhalombatta, Hungary. The investment of EUR 22 million allows MOL to produce 1,600 tons of green hydrogen anually.
MOL group will reduce its carbon dioxide emissions by 25,000 tons per year by displacing the currently used natural gas-based production process. The turnkey system will be supplied by the US company Plug Power Inc. Once operational in 2023, MOL will use green hydrogen in its Danube Refinery during fuel production of its own hydrogen system. Within the framework of its strategy, the company will make a total investment of USD 1 billion into the low carbon circular economy through 2025.
