A new hotel brand has been launched in Hungary. The W Budapest Hotel has opened in Budapest’s Drechsler Palace on Andrássy Avenue (right opposite the Opera House). The 5-star luxury hotel has 151 rooms.
The conversion of the landmark building, which once housed the State Ballet Institute, into a hotel was completed in two and a half years by the architectural and construction services provider DVM Group. The hotel is operated by W Hotels, a subsidiary of Marriott International.
Hungary is a key market for Marriott International. With eight hotels ranging from the luxury segment (W Budapest, Ritz-Carlton Budapest, Matild Palace Budapest, Luxury Collection Hotel) to the premium category (Budapest Marriott Hotel) and a selection of services (Courtyard by Marriott Budapest City Center, Four Points by Sheraton Budapest Danube), the properties meet the needs of leisure and business travellers alike.
Marriott International also has significant development plans in this country: following the debut of the W Hotels brand, the Dorothea Hotel, Autograph Collection will be the first Autograph Collection hotel to open in Hungary this autumn.
