In July, consumer prices increased by 13.7% yoy.
Food prices increased by 27% year-on-year. Margarine rose by 65%, bread by 60%, cheese by 55%, pasta by 50%, dairy products by 45%, poultry, baked goods and eggs by 35-40%. Consumer durables rose by 14%, alcohol beverages by an eighth and services by 7%.
Compared to June, prices rose by an average of 2.3%, core inflation by 3.0%. This indicator, which excludes energy and food prices, now stands at 16.7%. For a quarter of a century, Hungary has not experienced a comparable rise in prices.
