The volume of industrial production grew by 1.5% year-on-year in June. Based on working-day adjusted data production increased by 4.8%. According to seasonally and working-day adjusted data, industrial output was 0.6% higher than in May 2022.
In the key industrial sectors of the automotive and electronics industries, industrial production increased slightly year-on-year. The new strategic branch of the food industry recorded clearer growth.
In the first half of the year, industry achieved a plus of 5.1%. This means that only half of the momentum from the end of the year remains. In 2021, Hungary’s industry grew by 9.5% due to the low base of the Covid year 2020.
The further outlook for the second half of the year are clouded by the Ukrainian war, the unchanged bottlenecks in the supply chain and the exploding energy prices.
