The new aluminum recycling plant of Hydro Extrusion Hungary Kft. in Székesfehérvár has started operation.

Around 80 new jobs have been created at the recycling plant. The National Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA) granted a subsidy of EUR 6 million for the construction of one of the largest and most modern aluminum recycling plants in Europe. Tax relief of EUR 17 million was also granted.

Hydro Extrusion Hungary is Hydro’s largest and most modern extrusion plant in Europe. It has six aluminum extrusion presses, various surface treatment technologies and more than 300 processing machines. With a capacity of 60,000 tons per year, the plant plays an important role in the field of electromobility.

The plant in Székesfehérvár primarily supplies customers from the automotive industry. It enables car manufacturers and other industrial customers to join the “closed loop” and reduce the carbon footprint of their products. As part of the closed loop, the production waste collected from manufacturers is sent directly to the recycling plant located next to the extrusion plant. The recycled aluminum is then used directly for the production of car parts.

Hydro Extrusions is the world’s leading aluminum extrusion company with around 100 production sites in 40 countries and 21,000 employees. Around 1,700 employees work at the Norwegian company’s plant in Székesfehérvár.

According to public company data, Hydro Extrusion Hungary Kft. recorded a profit of around EUR 13 million (HUF 5.135 billion) on sales of EUR 444.3 million (around HUF 175 billion) in the 2023 financial year.
