Árpád-Agrár Zrt. and Szentesi Paradicsom Kft. handed over new 40,000 square meters greenhouses in Szegvár (Csongrád-Csanád county).
Árpád Group is one of the largest vegetable breeding companies in this country. The company started building greenhouses and foil tents as early as the 1960s. The agricultural company has built almost 10 hectares of modern greenhouses over the past 10 years with an investment of HUF 9.8 billion (EUR 24 million), about a third of which was financed with EU funds.
The current investment of HUF 2.8 billion (approx. EUR 7 million) includes the construction of a new 40,000 square meters greenhouse, the modernization of the cold store at the Szegvár site and the reconstruction of a 3,000 square meters greenhouse.
With the HUF 2.84 billion (approx. EUR 7 million) investment – with a 50% subsidy – Szentesi Paradicsom Kft. also built a 40,000 square meters greenhouse where 70,000 tomato plants were planted. To supply the greenhouse, a 2,100-meter-deep well was drilled, which pumps 115-120 cubic meters of thermal water at 85 degrees Celsius per hour. In addition, a new logistic center with cold store was built next to an existing 4.3 hectare greenhouse block.
